Many sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STDs/STIs) have no symptoms in the early stages meaning many people don't know they have one. Regular screening is the only reliable way to know your status and protect both your health and the health of your partners.
The CDC recommends regular STI screening for:
- Sexually active individuals under 25
- Adults with multiple sexual partners
- Anyone not using condoms consistently
- Pregnant women (routine prenatal screening)
- People with a known or suspected exposure
